Renaissance Learning
Using
the power of technology, SCHA is able to customize and indivualize a
literature based reading program along with a personalized mathematics
program as well.
Accelerated Reading
The goal of reading instruction is to help students become lifelong
learners who love to read! Research tells us that in order for this to
happen, students must spend a substantial amount of time reading books.
In order to facilitate this, SCHA uses a program called Accelerated
Reader, which has now become part of the Renaissance Learning Program.
Reading Renaissance enables our school to manage this kind
of extensive, literature-based reading practice. We will be able to
create a customized and individualized reading program for each and
every child. As a result, our student’s skills will grow.
Students will be introduced to the wonderful world of books and develop
a deep love of reading and learning that will serve them throughout
their lifetime. This program will:
- Encourage our kids to get excited about books.
Reading
Renaissance helps emphasize careful reading of books, which improves
students’ critical-thinking skills and builds an intrinsic love of
reading. - Provide reliable, objective information.
Three
different types of assessment give valuable data on students’ reading
practice, literacy skills development, vocabulary development and
performance on classroom assignments. - Helps to keep each student challenged.
We
can continually match student to appropriate books within their
zone of proximal development (ZPD). That means we can ensure every
student is challenged without being frustrated.
Accelerated Mathematics
Math Renaissance combines
Accelerated Math software with classroom-proven teaching methodologies. Math Renaissance works with our existing
curricula to help personalize instruction and manage the extensive practice
every student needs. With Math Renaissance software, we
can quickly assess our students’ math skills, provide immediate, individualized
feedback, generate daily assignments at each student’s own level, and score
assignments automatically. Results are in the form of timely,
information-packed reports that help us to guide our instruction which cover
each student’s needs, abilities and learning styles.
