In conjunction with Contemporary World History class, students will focus on some of the world’s most beautiful pieces of literature. Personal responses and reactions to the literature will form the basis for the students’ creative and critical writing assignments.
This survey course, aligned with the Modern European History course, will enable students to select their own reading list of plays, novels, poetry, and short stories, and to create a portfolio of critical and creative writing responses.
This course will be taught to augment our American History program, enabling students to deepen their understanding of America’s past and how it impacts major literary movements. Emphasis will be placed upon critical analysis of authors’ works and writing assignments which encourage students to creatively explore their own responses to the themes and ideas discussed in class.
AP English Language and Composition
This course is designed to help a student refine her critical reading, effective writing, and discussion and analysis skills. Students will compile their own prose reading and writing assignments, enabling them to personally discover the richness of written English and adapt it to their own writing styles. Admission by departmental approval.
